Apple Pie

Jumbo Apple Corer/Slicer

Sometimes nothing tastes better than a good homemade apple pie.

Families everywhere have been enjoying apple pie for decades. There are some very complex recipes out there and some very simple ones as well. Choosing the right apple pie recipe depends upon what the baker’s tastes are, and how much time and effort they want to put into the recipe.

Here is a recipe for a great apple pie, with a small kick to it. It not only tastes great, but it’s not too hard to bake and it doesn’t take a whole lot of time. Great for people with busy schedules.

The ingredients are also fairly cheap. One way to save extra pennies is to buy generic when you can. They sell generic brand ready-made pie crusts, and even generic spices. If you choose to add ice-cream or whipped topping you can always make your own or get that generic as well. If you go this route, the total cost for making this pie is even cheaper than buying a cheap frozen one.

The ingredients are as follow:

  • 2 already made pie crusts
  • 8 baking apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice (this gives it a nice little something)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

The instructions are fairly easy.

You mix together the cinnamon, flour, pumpkin pie spice, and nutmeg in a bowl. Add the apples and sugar and stir all the ingredients together.

Place it in the pie crust (these usually come in their own pans) add a few bits of butter and top with the other pie crust. Brush some milk over the top of the pie crust and sprinkle some additional sugar on top.

Bake at 375 degrees for about an hour.

This apple pie serves about six to eight people and is great served warm with some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. I like to make my own whipped topping with whipping cream. It’s a bit more time consuming, but really worth the extra time as it tastes incredible.

You and your family will enjoy this apple pie recipe, and it’s also a great addition to bring to picnics, church dinners or family-get-togethers.
